Installation
Download
Download the latest version of Iruka from iruka.dorienherremans.com/downloads. The download is a standard .dmg disk image.
Install
- Open the
.dmgfile - Drag Iruka.app to your Applications folder
- Eject the disk image
- Open Iruka from Applications (or Spotlight with ⌘ Space)
On first launch macOS may show a Gatekeeper dialog — click Open to proceed. Iruka is notarised by Apple so this prompt only appears once.
Install via Homebrew
Iruka is also available as a Homebrew cask:
brew install --cask dorienh/iruka/iruka
This downloads and installs the same signed, notarised build as the .dmg. Future versions can be updated the same way Iruka itself checks for updates (see Updating), or by running brew upgrade --cask dorienh/iruka/iruka.
Required Permissions
Iruka requests a small set of permissions the first time each feature is used:
| Permission | Why it's needed | |---|---| | Full Disk Access (optional) | Browse files outside your home folder in the file manager | | Network | SSH connections and file transfers | | Notifications (optional) | Alerts when a long-running command finishes |
Iruka will not request any permission until the relevant feature is first used.
Updating
Iruka checks for updates automatically at launch and notifies you in the app when a new version is available. Click Install Update and Iruka relaunches into the new version — no manual download needed.
To check for an update manually: Iruka → Check for Updates…
Uninstalling
- Quit Iruka
- Move Iruka.app from Applications to Trash
- (Optional) Remove preferences:
~/Library/Preferences/com.dorienherremans.iruka.plist
